Alterations & Refitting
The dress that no longer fits, the outfit that's almost right, the piece you love but never wear — an expert alteration can bring it back. We refit and restyle with a tailor's eye for proportion.
Don't Replace — Refit
Some of the best pieces in your wardrobe are the ones that no longer quite fit — an outfit from a few years ago, a gift in the wrong size, something that pinches in one place and gapes in another. Replacing them is expensive and wasteful. Refitting them is often the smarter move.
At Masterdaa, alterations aren't an afterthought — they're real tailoring. We resize, restyle and fit-correct with the same eye for proportion we bring to a new garment. A good alteration is invisible: the piece simply fits you now, as if it always did.
From a simple resize to reworking a garment's whole silhouette, bring us what you own and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
What We Do
Flowing floor-length gowns from silk, georgette or chiffon sarees — perfect for receptions and parties.
Convert a heavy Banarasi or Kanjivaram into a lehenga skirt with a matching blouse and dupatta.
Turn a soft saree into a graceful Anarkali or floor-length suit that still drapes beautifully.
Cape sets, dhoti gowns, jacket dresses and fusion silhouettes for the modern wardrobe.
Everyday sarees reimagined as kurtis, palazzo sets or salwar suits you can wear often.
Mother's or grandmother's saree carefully reworked into something wearable, honouring the original.
Why Masterdaa
We design with attention to drape and proportion, so the result looks intentional and modern, never patched together.
A good alteration doesn't show — the piece simply fits you now.
We tell you what's worth altering and what isn't, before you commit.

Good to Know
Most sarees can be converted — silk, georgette, chiffon and crepe work especially well for gowns and Anarkalis, while heavier Banarasi and Kanjivaram sarees are ideal for lehengas. We assess each saree honestly and tell you the best options for its fabric and condition before starting.
Cost depends on the design, the fabric and the amount of construction involved, so we quote after seeing the saree and understanding what you want. Book a home visit or studio appointment and we'll give you a clear estimate — there's no fixed price list because every conversion is different.
A typical conversion takes about 2 to 3 weeks depending on the complexity and the number of fittings. Bridal or heavily embellished pieces may take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline when you confirm the design.
No — we handle heirloom and embellished sarees with great care, working around zari, embroidery and borders to preserve what makes the saree special. We plan the cut so the original work becomes a feature of the new garment.
Yes, this is one of our favourite things to do. We restore and reimagine heirloom sarees into something wearable today while honouring the original piece — a modern outfit that still carries the memory.
Yes. We offer home visits across Kolkata with a location-based visiting charge, so we can see the saree, take measurements and discuss the design without you travelling. A nominal area charge may apply below that.
